Twelve new cadets graduated from Basic Cadet Training tonight at the Concord Squadron cadet meeting at the National Guard armory in Concord.

These cadets, who joined the unit in October 2013 as part of the unit’s last new member period, completed 12 weeks of training conducted by Cadets Jordan Loll, Tyler Dempsey and David Miner on Thursday nights and were promoted to their first rank, Cadet Airman, by the squadron commander, Major Brian Riis. Following the graduation, the cadets reported to each of the two cadet “flights” for integration and continued participation in the cadet program.

Subjects in Basic Cadet Training included military customs & courtesies, leadership, uniform wear, drill and ceremonies, physical fitness, core values & character development and the history of the Civil Air Patrol.  To graduate Basic, cadets completed a physical fitness test, a written leadership test, and a practical drill (marching) test.

The next unit membership period will begin with the Squadron Open House & Recruiting Night on March 13th.
